Can't log in using Firefox?

We've recently noticed that many publishers are having trouble logging into their accounts after the latest Mozilla Firefox update. A number of publishers have reported that they're only seeing a sign-up page rather than a login form. After a little digging and some testing, we've found that Adblock Plus, an add-on that sometimes gets installed with Firefox, can prevent you from accessing your account on the AdSense homepage. Our recommendation is to clear your cache and cookies and turn off the Adblock software before trying to log in at www.google.com/adsense . You may also wish to review our troubleshooting tips for login issues in our Help Center . Thanks for bringing this to our attention! Posted by Rajiv Sud - AdSense Publisher Support

AdSense coming to a video near you

You've heard the expression "Content is king." We completely agree, and we also realize that these days website content is much more than just text -- it's also video. That's why we're excited to announce that this week, we're launching a pilot with a small group of publishers to test streaming video ads in their online video content. With this pilot, publishers control when the ads play in their videos and choose which videos get the ads. We know there's a lot going on in the world of video, and you may be wondering how this relates to other video initiatives we've announced in AdSense. Here's a brief clarification: Click-to-play video ads : This is a video ad type on our content network. Any publisher opted into image ads and using one of the supported formats may see these click-to-play video ads on their sites. AdSense video distribution and sponsorship : We ran 2 pilots that allowed publishers to choose video channels (short-form video c...

Extreme makeover for the AdSense homepage

Image
Following the facelift we gave our ad units at the beginning of April, we've now started the same process for the AdSense homepage. You may have noticed recently that when you sign in, it's taken on a different appearance (at least sometimes). Over the next few days, you can expect to see this new homepage design more frequently as we roll out this change. If you haven't yet caught a glimpse of the new layout, here's a sneak peek: We hope you'll find this new homepage to be more visually appealing. However, please be assured that your AdSense performance and the layout of your internal account pages won't be affected in any way by this change. Posted by Arlene Lee - AdSense Publisher Support

DoubleClick acquisition

We have had a lot of questions about Google's announcement of our plans to purchase DoubleClick. Our goal is, as always, to improve the relevancy and efficiency of online advertising. This acquisition is a big win for you, our publishers, as well as for advertisers and Internet users. For those of you who are not familiar with the company, here's some background. They have two flagship products: DART for Advertisers allows advertisers and ad agencies to traffic, serve and measure their online display campaigns; DART for Publishers provides ad inventory management. Others of you are long time users of DoubleClick -- for over ten years, they've been working with buyers and sellers of Internet ads to help them plan, serve and measure their Internet campaigns. Stay tuned to this blog as we will use it to provide you with more information about our plans with DoubleClick, including ways you as an AdSense publisher can benefit from DoubleClick's strong advertiser and agency ...

We heart NY (and SES)

The AdSense team will be taking a bite out of the Big Apple next week, as members of our team attend the Search Engine Strategies conference in New York City on April 11-12. We hope those of you in New York (or just in a New York state of mind) will join us there. If you do attend, there are a number of informational sessions, including two with speakers from the AdSense team. (Check out the full schedule for Wednesday.) You're also welcome to stop by the Google booth to chat with our team, including me! I'm looking forward to meeting Inside AdSense readers and hearing your feedback and questions about the blog or AdSense in general. Interested in attending? Before you sign up, visit our friends over in Analytics for a coupon you can use towards buying a pass. See you in NYC next week! Posted by Arlene Lee - AdSense Publisher Support

Maybe they're born with it -- or maybe it's labeling

There are a lot of useful updates and tips buried in our archives, and we want to make sure that you're able to find all of this great content once it no longer appears on the blog. So we're excited to tell you that we now feature labels at the bottom of every post and in our sidebar to better organize all of the blog's content. If you’ve just joined AdSense, for instance, you can click the ‘ Newbie ’ label to find information about getting started with your account. Are you looking for information about how to understand your reports? Just visit the ' Earnings/Reports ' section of the blog. You can look forward to categories like: AdSense features Case studies Earnings/Reports International Newbie Optimization Other Other Google products Payments Program Policies We’re currently in the process of adding labels to all of the posts in our archives, and we ap...

Your key to security and speedy responses

In this technological world, it's fairly common to have multiple email addresses. However, if you'd like to contact us, we encourage you to use the email address associated with your AdSense account -- this is the email address you use to sign in. By doing so, you'll help us quickly locate your account so that we can address your issue as soon as possible. This will also allow us to provide you with specific account information and continue to protect the privacy and security of all accounts. For example, if you have specific questions related to your payments , we want to make sure your account information is really going to you and not to a third party. Just as a driver's license and passport serve as forms of ID for you, you can consider your login as your ID for AdSense. As a result, we ask that you keep your AdSense login handy for account inquiries you may have. Posted by Jennifer Su - AdSense Publisher Support

Holidays galore

This Monday, February 19th, our U.S. offices will be closed in observation of President's Day. This means you can expect slightly longer response times to your email, so please feel free to consult other publishers in the Help Forum or search for your answer in our Help Center over the long weekend. And speaking of the weekend, we'd like to wish our publishers who follow the lunar calendar a Happy Lunar New Year! We hope that this Year of the Golden Pig brings you health and prosperity...and piggy banks full of AdSense earnings :) Posted by Arlene Lee - AdSense Publisher Support

10,000 strong (and growing)

Since our first post oh-so-long-ago in August 2005 , we've aimed to provide all our readers with all the support, answers, and updates possible. Soon after we introduced the blog, we offered you all the option to receive our posts by email. Many of you -- more than 10,000 of you as of this past week, in fact -- chose to take us up on our offer and have discovered that subscribing to the blog is a great way to get the heads-up about new features, the inside scoop on optimizing your site, and the answers to questions that have puzzled you and other AdSense publishers. We'd like to thank all of you Inside AdSense readers for your continued support, and encourage those who haven't yet subscribed to do so. We think you'll be glad you did. This is a test: Video content on AdSense

There are many things in life that go hand in hand -- peanut butter & jelly, wine & cheese, milk & cookies -- and for publishers, AdSense & great content sites. We hope that the next perfect pairing will be "great video content & your audience." Over the next few weeks we'll be testing AdSense video distribution and sponsorship with a small group of publishers. You may remember us doing a similar trial last year with MTV Networks, where we distributed ad-supported MTV video content to publishers who displayed the content on their sites. This time, we'll be working with a larger set of content providers, grouping together video content from providers such as Warner Music Group and Sony BMG Music Entertainment together with quality ads and offering them as playlists which publishers can select from and display on their AdSense sites. Participating publishers range from small to large, and cut across many different types of content. While we're u...

Best of 2006

As 2006 winds down, we'd like to take a moment to reflect on some of the great things that happened this year in AdSense and on the Inside AdSense blog. We had to narrow down a long list to get these 10 highlights, not listed in any particular order. So relax and reminisce with us about the year just ending. Inside AdSense goes international The Inside AdSense blog expanded to 4 more languages this year -– a German version in March, then Dutch and Spanish in July, and most recently, Portuguese in September. Now more publishers around the world can stay up to date with AdSense news and get to know some of our team. Click-to-play video ads In June, we introduced this new ad type which can help engage visitors and increase potential revenue for publishers. Click-to-play video ads are now available for 4 ad formats , one of which is the new 200x200 Small Square. Meeting our publishers Whether it was at San Jose SES , WebmasterWorld PubCon 2006, or another venue, our team was hap...

What happens in Vegas...

What could be more exciting than the sights and sounds of Las Vegas? Meeting our publishers in person, of course! A few of us from AdSense are excited to be at WebmasterWorld PubCon 2006 in Las Vegas this week on November 15 and 16. Stop by the Google booth to meet a few seasoned optimization specialists who'll be happy to give you insights into how to better optimize AdSense on your pages as well as answer any burning questions you may have. In addition, an AdSense Product Manager will be on hand at Safe Bets From Google eagerly awaiting to hear what features you want from AdSense, or take any other feedback about the program. And if that isn't enough, one of our very own will be presenting on Wednesday's contextual advertising optimization panel . For those of you who'll be going, we wish you smooth travel to the City of Lights and hope to meet you there. Posted by Christine Lee - AdSense Product Marketing
